He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
