He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and palms 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
