He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
