He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
