He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
