He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe of God 9 you ignore him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
