He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 You neglect. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 On honoured leaves 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
