He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he feareth 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
