He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
