He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
