He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And hath fear, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
