He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, joyous; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
