He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and who has fear of God, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
