He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he feareth 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
