The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
