The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and the night that falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
