The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
