The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
