The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
