The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
