The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
