The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
