The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
