The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
True are the words of God the Almighty.
