The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
