The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
