The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
