The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
