The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
