The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
