The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
