The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars darken, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
