The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
