The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
