The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
