The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
