The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and brightening morning, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
