The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
