The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are united, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
