The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
