The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
