The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
