The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
