The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
