The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
