The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
