The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 for a great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 upon couches gazing; 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
