The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
