The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a written book, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
