The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 a written record, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
